New floors
for dairy farms

Wood chip is a favourite bedding surface for calves and cows.

Newborn calves need a soft and kind surface to be reared on.

Wood chip is natural and usually from a close local source. The chip rots down to fertile soil and absorbs moisture from the calf’s skin as well.

And for the adult cows, wood chip is ideal for standing off pads, where the outside pasture is too muddy or too dry to have stock graze on the grass full time.

The irony is that increasingly dairy farmers will be competing with their own dairy companies for the supply of wood chip. Dairy processors are rapidly converting from using coal for their milk powder driers, and wood chip or processed wood pellets are a main source of alternative energy which can generate enough heat to do the job.
